The Atikamekw community of Manawan, with a population of over 2,400 and a reserve area of 7.83 km2, is located 87 km north of Saint-Michel-des-Saints in the Lanaudière region of Quebec and 120 km west of La Tuque in the Plateau Laurentien region. From Saint-Michel-des-Saints, access to the township is by logging road, a distance of approximately 87 kilometers and about 1 hour 15 minutes.
