From September 25 to 27 2026, the Journées de la culture will take place in Repentigny, featuring three days of free activities. Visual arts, literature, heritage, music, theater, and crafts: above all, the program gives us a great excuse to take the time to explore culture in all its forms.
For three days, we’ll take this opportunity to explore the Repentigny Cultural Center in a new light, moving from a performance to a workshop, from an exhibition to a discussion.
A FRIDAY DEDICATED TO HERITAGE
On Friday, September 25, we’ll take a trip back in time at the Moulin Grenier. From 11 AM to noon, Martin Trudel, a miller at the Moulin Légaré in Saint-Eustache, will be present to introduce the public to his craft and the expertise that goes along with it. It’s a brief glimpse into an age-old trade where traditions continue to be passed down from generation to generation.
A SATURDAY BETWEEN THE ARTS AND COMIC BOOKS
Two events in two completely different worlds await you.
At 11 AM, the Centre d’art Diane-Dufresne will host Laurier Lacroix, professor emeritus and art historian. His lecture will explore the social issues reflected in the work of Marc Séguin.
Then, at 2:00 PM, it’ll be family time at the Robert-Lussier Library. Annie Groovie will introduce children ages 5 to 12 to the world of her famous character, Léon. On the agenda: a behind-the-scenes look at how a book and a comic book are created, a meet-and-greet with the author, and a workshop on how to draw Léon.
SUNDAY: THE CULTURAL CENTER COMES ALIVE
If you had to pick just one day, Sunday, September 27, would be hard to beat. And it’s probably the perfect day to show up without a strict schedule and simply let yourself be guided by whatever catches your eye.
From 11 AM to 3 PM, the Repentigny Cultural Center comes alive with a host of free activities. Creative workshops, performances, arts and crafts, history, literature, dance. You can easily spend a few hours there, letting yourself be carried from one discovery to the next.
Things to discover throughout the day

Stop by the artisans’ market, located on the plaza in front of the Diane-Dufresne Art Center, to meet local artisans and discover their work.

Get started with birdwatching at Charles-De Gaulle Park alongside enthusiasts from the Ornithology Club.

Discover local artists with an exhibition featuring members of the Repentigny Cultural Arts Association (ACAR) at the Galerie d’art citoyenne. You can even take part in an artistic activity.
- Rediscover traditional skills with the Cercle des fermières, which invites you to explore various artisanal techniques.
- Share your memories and discover local history, from the town’s founding to the present day, alongside fellow enthusiasts.
- Stop by The Reading Tent where the Repentigny library staff will introduce you to their literary treasures. It's a particularly fun stop to make with the kids.
- Grab a paintbrush in the gardens of the Espace culturel with artist Sébastien Mécoli. This outdoor painting workshop offers a chance to create while taking a fresh look at ecology and the landscape.
- Create your own zine with Sara Hébert. A few pages, some ideas, and all the freedom you need to create a little work of art that reflects who you are.
- Sculpture workshop with Carlos Oliva: Explore life in space through sculpture and create pieces that will inspire an installation at the Musée de l'étrange.
- Crochet workshop with Le petit monde de Leyycrochet: Learn the art of crochet with Leysha at Charles-De Gaulle Park.

SEVERAL performances also punctuate the day
10 AM – Performance workshop with Emmanuelle Calvé
Even before the main celebration begins, the Diane-Dufresne Art Center invites you to a performance workshop where movement, drawing, and painting come together to explore the connections between the body, art, and nature. The activity is free, but registration is required.
11 AM – Nana and the Wind
At Charles-De Gaulle Park, Tati and Talitha welcome children ages 3 to 6 to their garden with a gentle, delicate performance that explores the theme of growing up. A wonderful way to introduce little ones to the performing arts.
12 PM – Traditional Peruvian Dance
Discover Peru’s rich culture through a demonstration of traditional dances showcasing its colourful costumes. In collaboration with Héritage Hispanique Québec.
1 PM – Living Room with Clö & Coralie
At Passage de l’Imaginaire, the duo presents a performance that blends theatre, audience participation, and co-creation. An artistic experience that breaks away from conventional formats.
2 PM – Latin Dance with Espace Yambe
We’ll wrap up the afternoon at Charles-De Gaulle Park with Latin music and dance. You don’t have to be a pro, just let the rhythm carry you away!
With so many options all in one place, the hardest part might be deciding what to do. Our advice: Set aside a few hours, identify the scheduled activities you don’t want to miss, and, between appointments, let yourself be guided by whatever catches your eye.
Open to everyone, without exception
That’s probably what we love most about Les Journées de la culture: you don’t need to be an expert to participate.
You can come for a show and end up trying your hand at painting. Stop by the artisans’ market for a few minutes and then move on to a beginner’s birdwatching workshop. Or simply take the opportunity to discover some of Repentigny’s lesser-known cultural spots.
For three days, culture steps outside its usual boundaries and, above all, invites us to be curious.
