You'll fall under the spell of the people of Nouvelle-Acadie and their culture. The four municipalities that make up Nouvelle-Acadie: Saint-Jacques, Saint-Alexis, Saint-Liguori and Sainte-Marie-Salomé, are proud of their very own culture. Discover this destination that combines regional flavors, culture and the great outdoors.
Here's a three-day itinerary to discover the Nouvelle-Acadie region.
DAY 1
In addition to being known for the warm welcome of its residents, Nouvelle-Acadie is brimming with agritourism businesses waiting to be discovered. Pick-your-own farms, farms, distilleries, microbreweries, and shops selling local products line the country roads of the area.
For pick-your-own, we choose to head to Ferme J.L. Leblanc. On the way, we pass the nursery Les Jardins Gourmands and their impressive variety of plants, perennials, flower pots, and vegetable seedlings. For pork, we head to Cochon Cent Façons. This family-run business is known for its quality products.
The Belle Excuse boutique, meanwhile, is located in Saint-Liguori. Its gourmet products are known throughout the province, and we’re proud to have this wonderful business in the region. A detour to the beautiful boutique offers some lovely finds for the home.
Don’t forget to stop by Signé Moman, the perfect spot any time of day: whether for a quick breakfast on the go, savoring a sandwich bursting with flavor, or sharing festive tapas in the evening with a drink in hand.
DAY 2
Outdoor enthusiasts won’t be disappointed in Nouvelle-Acadie either. The Saint-Lin-Laurentides Recreational Nature Park is well worth a visit. With free admission, this park offers a chance to immerse yourself in nature right on the city’s doorstep. It features interpretive signs, picnic areas, and boardwalks. Dogs on leashes are welcome. Five hiking trails allow visitors to reach three lakes and observe a wide variety of birds.
Nearby, watercraft rentals are available on the Achigan River. Single or double kayaks, pedal boats, stand-up paddleboards, canoes, rowboats, and even a rabaska are available for those wishing to venture out on the river to enjoy the beautiful summer days from June to September.
The La Suisse Normande cheese farm and its country grocery store are also well known. The artisanal farm cheeses made with goat’s milk from the farm have distinguished themselves by winning numerous awards. You’ll find everything at the country grocery store, and you can even pick your own flowers there during the summer. A newcomer to the Nouvelle-Acadie scene, the Vignoble Têtes au Vent is also worth exploring.
Take advantage of this gourmet tour to spot the murals and paintings that make up Chouette! rural art trail.

DAY 3
Golf enthusiasts will be delighted to gather at Golf Montcalm for a friendly round. Afterward, we head to Saint-Jacques for an enlightening visit to the Maison de la Nouvelle-Acadie. The history and culture of the Acadians of Lanaudière deserve to be better known. A permanent exhibition sheds light on the issues and context surrounding the deportation.
The Saint-Jacques | Nouvelle-Acadie Historical Trail passes by the Maison de la Nouvelle-Acadie and lets you explore the treasures of Principale Street on foot, passing the old post office, the Maison Louise-Pariseau, the church, and the Parc des Cultures. A podcast accompanies this 1.4-km walk through the history of this corner of Lanaudière.
We end the day with an organic gin tasting at the Distillerie Grand Dérangement. We learn more about the gin-making process during a tour of the Économusée. Even the name of the place refers to the history of New Acadia.
