With its many cycling circuits, Lanaudière is a destination of choice for cycling enthusiasts. A must-see in the region, this tour is for seasoned cyclists who don't mind tackling a little more challenging terrain.
The 84 km Le Nordet loop has some pretty steep climbs, but it's a very satisfying ride for anyone up for the challenge! You'll have the chance to admire some magnificent scenery, including a beautiful view of the north side of Mont-Tremblant, while pedaling along a main road with little traffic. The asphalt is impeccable, the shoulders are wide and the thrills are there too... with some descents reaching speeds of up to 70 km/h!
You can also do the round trip between Saint-Donat and Lac-Supérieur on the Chemin du Nordet instead of the full loop. To help you plan your day, we've listed some nearby attractions to add to your itinerary. Plan your perfect itinerary for a full day of biking!
SUGGESTED STARTING POINT: PARC DES PIONNIERS
The community of Saint-Donat has long been recognized as THE destination for cyclists, so there's no better place to start your day. There's a beach (why not take a dip first?), play areas for children and access to the cycle path.
BIRDWATCHING AT SENTIERS DES ÉTANGS
From the Parc des Pionniers parking lot, turn left onto the main street and stop at the Trails des Étangs for some birdwatching, before heading north on Route 125 to Chemin du Nordet.
ENJOY THE MANY PANORAMIC VIEWS
There are plenty of hills on this circuit, so why not take a well-deserved break (and a sip of water) to admire the many viewpoints? The view of Mont-Tremblant National Park is particularly magnificent.
END YOUR DAY WITH A FULL BELLY
What better way to end your itinerary than with a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants on Rue Principale? Bistro Le Grand R offers a tempting menu with a magnificent view of Lac Bouillon. Located side by side, Le Café Marius and Restaurant Ohana are also excellent options for a bite to eat. Hop lovers will also be delighted by a refreshing craft beer on the terrace of Microbrasserie Brouemalt. Don't forget to stock up on victuals and pastries at Boulangerie du Village, whose building is busy all year round.
EXTEND YOUR STAY FOR THE NIGHT
Accommodation for all tastes awaits you after a long day's cycling. End your getaway in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, as Le Grand R offers cozy condos and chalets. Are you a camping enthusiast? You can also pitch your tent in Mont-Tremblant National Park, where you can combine beach and hiking.
