Saint-Donat covers a vast area offering a myriad of opportunities. Summer and winter alike, outdoor enthusiasts know they can enjoy a wide range of activities in the great outdoors.
Discover our suggested itinerary for exploring the Saint-Donat area over a few days this winter.
DAY 1
A visit to Saint-Donat should start with a hike or excursion on one of its many walking trails. These are free, welcome dogs on leashes, and will lead you to breathtaking views. You'll find walking trails suitable for all levels of fitness in the surrounding area.
Families might consider a walk to Mont-Sourire. This trail is notable for its spectacular view of Lake Ouareau from its summit, which is only 1 km from the starting point. It's the perfect place to motivate the whole family to reach an easily accessible viewpoint that offers a spectacular view.

During the winter season, a trip to Mont-Tremblant National Park, located a few kilometers north of the village of Saint-Donat, is just as captivating. The Pimbina-Saint-Donat sector offers a variety of winter activities, including hiking, snowshoeing, and wildlife viewing.
Saint-Donat offers an exceptional playground with over 200 kilometers of snowshoe trails to explore. It's a true paradise for nature lovers. Don't miss the must-see attractions, such as the majestic Montagne Noire or the picturesque Cap de la Fée. And that's not all, hidden gems such as Mont Lafrenière, Mont Sombre, and Montagne du Carcan await you for a unique experience. Most of these places are located in the northern part of the municipality, offering you total serenity in a preserved natural setting.
For those who don't want to return home at the end of this busy day outdoors, we end this first day with a night in the forest, either in one of the shelters in the Ouareau Forest Regional Park, located near Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci, or in one of the yurts at Lac Copping campground. If you prefer more comfortable accommodations, Le Grand R or Chalets Évasions are must-sees in the region.

DAY 2
For this second day in the Saint-Donat area, we head to one of the region's renowned ski resorts. Ski Garceau and La Réserve are great places for winter sports enthusiasts. With over 70 trails to explore, these resorts offer an exciting playground for beginners, intermediate skiers, and experts alike. And the highlight of the experience? The breathtaking panoramic views from the peaks, with stunning vistas of the region's iconic mountains. Get ready to hit the slopes while enjoying breathtaking scenery!

Want to try off-piste skiing? You can also try this activity, which is becoming increasingly popular at these two resorts. They offer forest ascents without the use of ski lifts, followed by off-piste descents, or you can venture onto the groomed slopes for a unique skiing experience.

The Montagne Noire also offers a challenging climb followed by a descent through snow-covered woods. Before you start your descent, stop at the summit of the mirador to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. The Montagne Blanche and Montagne Grise trails are ideal for adventurers looking for more challenging terrain.
End the day at one of the local restaurants before returning to your accommodation or heading home.
DAY 3
You can't visit Saint-Donat without stopping at Parc des Pionniers. It's the perfect place to enjoy all kinds of winter activities. The park has a slope specially designed for sledding. Bring your sled and get ready for some pure family fun! The best part? These thrilling snowy descents are completely free, making them a great way to enjoy winter without breaking the bank.
In addition, Parc des Pionniers offers a selection of five mechanically groomed cross-country ski trails and a 3.3-kilometer trail dedicated to snowshoeing. For those who prefer to lace up their skates, a 1.3-kilometer lighted trail through the forest is sure to delight skaters. There is also an ice rink for those who want to play hockey.

And we can't forget to mention the many snowmobile trails, most of which are accessible from the heart of the village. You can learn more about them by clicking HERE.
To round off a day full of winter activities, what could be better than relaxing with a craft beer at the friendly Brouemalt microbrewery or enjoying a delicious meal at the Aux 3 copains restaurant? It's the perfect finishing touch to an unforgettable stay!
