Lanaudière has numerous cross-country ski networks less than two hours from Montreal. Whether you prefer classic or skate skiing, there’s no lack of scenic snowscapes to explore. Here are seven cross-country ski areas where you can make the most of winter in our beautiful region.
1. Chez Ti-Jean – L’Épiphanie
The 34 km of cross-country ski trails at Chez Ti-Jean wind through a scenic forest of spruce and pine. It’s a great place to take in the fresh air and relish the beauty of nature. There are plenty of hills for skiers who are up for a challenge!
Beginner trails are also available for families and anyone wanting to try their hand at cross-country skiing. Double tracks make it easy for faster skiers to pass or for couples to ski side by side.
The site also has two snowshoe trails.
2. Tournée des Cantons de Rawdon – Rawdon
The Tournée des cantons in Rawdon maintains a network of eco-friendly cross-country ski and snowshoe trails for winter sport enthusiasts.
The 36 km of ski trails are fully groomed. Half are mechanically prepared for classic skiing and the other half designed for Nordic skiing.
There are also multi-use trails for snowshoeing, hiking and fat biking.
3. Montagne Coupée – Saint-Jean-de-Matha
Winter sport enthusiasts will get their fill on the cross-country trails at Montagne Coupée.
With over 70 km of mechanically groomed trails, the cross-country ski centre is located at the Val-Notre Dame Abbey in Saint-Jean-de-Matha.
The more adventurous can hit the steeper slopes, while beginners can enjoy magnificent views of the mountains and L’Assomption River.
4. Sentiers Brandon – Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon
Enjoy some outdoor fun on the magnificent Brandon Trails. Need to warm up? Stop at one of the two heated relay stations along the way.
With 25 km of groomed trails weaving through a snow-covered forest, the site is a true paradise for skiers. Snowshoeing, hiking and fat biking are also available.
5. Havre familial – Sainte-Béatrix
Winding through breathtaking landscapes, the five trails at Havre familial range from intermediate to advanced. The circuits are designed for experienced skiers or those looking for a challenge.
There are also 14 km of snowshoe and hiking trails to explore the winter wonderland on foot.
Two heated relay stations on the shores of Lac Beaupré make a great place to take a break. You can also spend the night in one of the cabins or shelters.
6. Municipal trails in Saint-Côme – Saint-Côme
Although Saint-Come is primarily known for its popular downhill ski resort, it also has over 10 km of cross-country ski tracks and several snowshoe trails.
The short trails are all linked together. You can create your own itinerary, exploring Lac de la Mousse or gliding along the L’Assomption River.
It’s the perfect activity to combine with a day on the mountain!
7. Parc du Grand-Coteau - Mascouche
The Parc du Grand-Coteau offers a variety of trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, fat biking and hiking (including a dog-friendly one). An ice skating trail is now also available.
